Man Sets Self on Fire in Telangana Police Station After Police Registered Drunk-Driving Case

A man set himself on fire inside a police station in Telangana’s Nalgonda district after police registered a drunk-driving case against him. The individual, identified as Ravilla Narasimha, is currently in critical condition, and a police constable was injured while attempting to save him.
The incident occurred after Narasimha was stopped during a routine drunk-and-drive check while he was returning home. The Nalgonda 1-Town police subsequently booked a case against him under the relevant sections of the law for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Reportedly angered by the police action, Narasimha went to the police station, poured petrol on himself, and set himself ablaze. According to reports, he shouted, “Will you file a case against me?” just before igniting the fire. Police personnel at the station immediately rushed to intervene, and a constable sustained injuries while trying to douse the flames. Authorities have not yet issued an official comment on the matter.
This incident follows another recent case of self-immolation in the region. In a separate event in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district, a young woman, who worked as a constable, set herself on fire in front of her boyfriend’s house, allegedly after he refused to marry her.
