In the early hours of Saturday, a tragic accident unfolded in Mumbai’s Kandivali area, involving renowned Marathi actress Urmila Kothare. The incident has not only claimed the life of one laborer but also left another seriously injured, highlighting the dangers of high-speed driving in urban settings.

According to reports, Urmila Kothare was returning home after wrapping up a film shoot when disaster struck near the Poisar Metro Station. Her vehicle was reportedly traveling at a high speed. It lost control and veered into the path of two laborers engaged in Metro rail work. The impact was devastating. One laborer succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The other was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Both Kothare and her driver also sustained injuries but were somewhat protected by the timely deployment of the car’s airbags. “The airbags indeed saved lives by opening at the right moment,” stated a police official to PTI, emphasizing the critical role of safety features in vehicles.

The aftermath of the accident saw significant damage to Kothare’s vehicle, but fortunately, she escaped with only minor injuries. An official case has been filed against the driver.
