Massive Civil Defence Mock Drill Tomorrow in Four Border States After Operation Sindoor
In a major security preparedness move, a civil defence mock drill will be conducted on Thursday across four Indian states sharing borders with Pakistan — Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir. The exercise follows India’s military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 tourists.
The coordinated mock drill, scheduled for Thursday evening, aims to test rapid response mechanisms in case of potential terrorist threats, including hostage situations. Security agencies will simulate high-intensity scenarios to evaluate preparedness and inter-agency coordination.
The development comes weeks after India launched Operation Sindoor on May 6-7, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The strikes resulted in the elimination of over 100 terrorists associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Officials confirmed that Anti-Terror Squads, National Security Guard (NSG) units, and state police forces will participate in the mock operations, armed with modern equipment and following real-time protocols.
“This is a routine part of our readiness strategy. The objective is to ensure swift and effective response in the face of any terrorist activity,” said a senior official involved in the planning of the exercise.
Over the past month, security drills have been increased across India in response to heightened threat perception following the Pahalgam massacre. Multiple cities have witnessed similar mock drills involving police, paramilitary, and emergency services.
Meanwhile, India has launched a global diplomatic outreach through multi-party delegations currently touring world capitals. Their objective is to counter misinformation, present evidence of cross-border terrorism, and highlight India’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism.
