Meerut Murder Case: Muskan’s Film Star Dreams Linked to Husband Killing, Says Victim’s Brother

In a chilling twist to the Meerut murder case, Saurabh Rajput’s brother claims his wife Muskan Rastogi, accused of his murder, aspired to be a film star, as police uncover a web of motives behind the crime.

Saurabh Rajput’s brother alleged on Friday that Muskan’s ambition to become a film star fueled domestic turmoil, including a past divorce filing. The claim adds a new layer to the investigation into Saurabh’s gruesome murder on March 4.

Police found Saurabh’s dismembered body sealed in a cement-filled drum at his Indira Nagar home. Muskan and her lover Sahil Shukla confessed to stabbing him, chopping his body, and hiding it after months of planning.

Saurabh’s mother, Renu Devi, said her six-year-old granddaughter remarked, “Papa is in the drum,” hinting at awareness of the crime. However, SP City Ayush Vikram Singh clarified, “The girl likely overheard Muskan after the incident.”

Police are probing multiple angles, including illicit affairs, drugs, and Muskan’s alleged film star aspirations. Sources confirmed she bought sedatives and knives before Saurabh’s return from London in February.

SP Singh revealed Muskan manipulated Sahil using a fake Snapchat ID, posing as his deceased mother. “She convinced him his mother wanted Saurabh dead,” he said, noting the claim is still under investigation.

A local shopkeeper told police a woman, identified as Muskan, bought a drum for Rs 1,100 without haggling. The knife’s origin remains unconfirmed, though police suspect it was used in the murder.

Renu Devi accused Muskan’s parents of misleading police, asserting they knew about the crime beforehand. Muskan’s family, however, reported her confession to authorities on March 18, leading to her arrest.

SP Singh confirmed Muskan plotted the murder since November 2023, exploiting Saurabh’s estrangement from his family. She believed his absence would go unnoticed due to their lack of contact.

Muskan and Sahil were arrested on Tuesday and remanded to 14-day judicial custody on Wednesday. Saurabh’s body was recovered, examined, and cremated late Wednesday evening.

Police continue to investigate Muskan’s motives, including her alleged film star dreams and Sahil’s role in the crime. Further revelations are expected as the case unfolds in court.
