WATCH | Driver’s ‘Fast & Furious’ Stunt Ends in Mumbai Coastal Road Crash
A dramatic high-speed crash on Mumbai’s Coastal Road near Worli has grabbed headlines after a 24-year-old driver from Juhu, Rishabh Aneja, lost control of his BMW and slammed into a barrier. The incident, which unfolded on Sunday morning, March 2, was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media, sparking debates about road safety.
The footage shows Aneja’s black BMW M340i racing down the sleek Coastal Road, overtaking another car with ease. But the thrill ride turned chaotic when the car suddenly swerved, jumped lanes, and crashed into the side railing. The impact left the luxury vehicle mangled, with its front end crumpled, though miraculously, no one was hurt.
Worli police acted swiftly, filing a case against Aneja on Monday evening. He now faces charges under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 and the Motor Vehicles Act for rash driving and endangering public safety. “The car was speeding recklessly. It’s fortunate no other vehicles or pedestrians were harmed,” said Senior Inspector Ravindra Katkar.

The Coastal Road, a 10.58-km stretch connecting south Mumbai to Worli, has been hailed as a game-changer since its partial opening in March 2024. However, this isn’t the first accident tied to reckless driving here. Last September, a diamond trader fatally struck a worker on the same stretch, raising safety concerns.
Social media users dubbed Aneja’s stunt “Fast & Furious gone wrong,” with many calling for stricter penalties. While Aneja escaped injury, the incident underscores the risks of speeding on this busy route. Police are investigating further, promising tough action to deter such dangerous driving in the future.
