Mumbai on High Alert After Threat of 34 Human Bombs, 14 Pak Terrorists Entering City
Mumbai has been placed on high alert after the city’s police control room and traffic police received an alarming WhatsApp message on Friday warning of a major terror attack . The threat, attributed to a group calling itself ‘Lashkar-e-Jihadi,’ claimed that 34 “human bombs” have been planted in 34 vehicles across the city and that 14 Pakistani terrorists have entered India to carry out the attack .
According to the Mumbai Police, the message warned that 400 kgs of RDX would be used in a blast that would “shake entire Mumbai” . The threat comes just ahead of Anant Chaturdashi, a major festival that sees large public gatherings for Ganesh idol immersions, prompting police to significantly ramp up security across the state . The message is currently under investigation by cyber and anti-terror units to verify its authenticity and trace its origin .
In a statement, the Mumbai Police confirmed they are on high alert and investigating all angles of the threat . Security has been visibly enhanced, with intensified checks at key locations and public spaces .
This is not the first time the city has been subjected to such threats; a similar input was received in September of last year, which led to heightened security around temples and other religious places .
