Navi Mumbai Gears Up for Grand ‘Jai Shivaji, Jai Bharat’ March on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s 395th Birth Anniversary
Navi Mumbai is buzzing with excitement as it prepares to celebrate the 395th birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on February 19, 2025. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has organized a special 4 to 6-kilometer grand march, echoing the state government’s call for ‘Jai Shivaji, Jai Bharat’ marches across all 36 districts of Maharashtra. This event promises to be a vibrant tribute to the legendary Maratha warrior king, and it’s shaping up to be a day full of pride and patriotism.
According to an official statement, the celebrations are set to be extra special this year. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, issued a directive earlier to ensure grand arrangements for the occasion. In Navi Mumbai, the festivities will unfold at two key spots: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk in Vashi and the NMMC Headquarters. Both locations will host marches, performances, and community gatherings, making it a memorable day for residents and Shivaji enthusiasts alike.
In Vashi, over 1,500 students will join the march, starting from various routes like Kopari to St. Lawrence High School, Modern College to the Fire Brigade, and more, all converging at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk. It’s a fantastic way for young people to connect with the legacy of Shivaji Maharaj, who founded the Maratha Empire and is celebrated for his bravery and leadership. The energy and enthusiasm are expected to be contagious as students, teachers, and locals come together.

At the NMMC Headquarters, more than 500 students will participate in processions from places like Belapur village, Diwale village, and Vidyabhavan High School in Nerul, all heading to the headquarters. Teachers and Shivaji devotees will also join in, adding to the spirit of the event. The Amphitheater at the headquarters will feature a live telecast of the Prime Minister’s address, along with cultural performances like Powada (traditional Marathi ballads), speeches, and dances depicting Shivaji Maharaj’s life. It’s a perfect blend of history, culture, and community spirit.
NMMC officers and employees will also take part, showing how deeply this celebration resonates with everyone in Navi Mumbai. The ‘Jai Shivaji, Jai Bharat’ march isn’t just a local event—it’s part of a statewide initiative to honor Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy of courage, justice, and self-rule.
