‘Not Right to Say Mumbai Is Unsafe’ : Devendra Fadnavis Responds to Saif Ali Khan Attack

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed concerns about Mumbai’s safety following the recent attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. Speaking to the media on Thursday, Fadnavis described the incident as unfortunate but stated that it would be unfair to label Mumbai as unsafe based on this singular event.
The attack has triggered a political debate, with opposition parties criticizing the state’s law and order situation. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi questioned the safety of citizens, stating, “If celebrities are not safe, who in Mumbai is?” She also alleged that recent high-profile attacks reflect attempts to undermine the city’s reputation.
NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule called the incident worrisome, emphasizing the need for stronger security measures to protect both citizens and public figures.

Fadnavis defended Mumbai’s safety record, stating, “The police have shared all the details of the incident, including the motive and the nature of the attack. Mumbai remains a safe city, and this unfortunate event does not define the city’s security situation.”
Actor Saif Ali Khan was injured during a scuffle with a thief who broke into his Mumbai residence. The intruder reportedly stabbed the actor multiple times before fleeing the scene. Saif underwent surgery at Lilavati Hospital, where doctors confirmed he is now out of danger and in recovery.
A statement from Saif’s team assured the public that his family members are safe and that the police are thoroughly investigating the incident. Mumbai Police are examining CCTV footage to identify the suspect and determine the motive behind the attack.
The attack on Saif Ali Khan has reignited concerns over the safety of high-profile individuals in Mumbai. With recent incidents highlighting vulnerabilities, citizens are calling for stricter measures to ensure public safety.
While the incident involving Saif Ali Khan is deeply concerning, the Maharashtra government has assured swift action and a comprehensive investigation. As the police continue their probe, the focus remains on addressing safety concerns while maintaining Mumbai’s reputation as one of India’s safest cities.
