Murder Accused Raj Kushwaha Seen at Raja Raghuvanshi’s Funeral, Victim’s Family Shares Video Evidence

In a shocking twist to the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, one of the key accused, Raj Kushwaha, was seen attending the victim’s funeral and consoling his father—days before being arrested for allegedly helping plot the murder. A video shared by Raja’s sister on social media has sparked fresh outrage.

Raj Kushwaha, arrested along with Sonam Raghuvanshi and two others for the murder of 28-year-old Raja, was reportedly present at the funeral in Indore, according to family members and a newly surfaced video. The video shows Kushwaha standing next to Raja’s grieving father, which family members say confirms he was involved in the post-death proceedings.

Kushwaha, identified in the video by Raja’s sister, is seen driving a four-wheeler carrying mourners to the funeral. “I remember sitting in a vehicle driven by him. At the time, I didn’t know who he was. I realised it only after seeing his arrest photos in the news,” said Lakshman Singh Rathore, an eyewitness quoted by PTI.

Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam went missing on May 23 while on their honeymoon in Meghalaya. His decomposed body was discovered in a gorge near Weisawdong Falls on June 2. A rented scooter they used was found abandoned with the keys intact, prompting suspicion.

Meghalaya Police later arrested Sonam and three alleged contract killers: Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Raj Kushwaha. Investigators claim Sonam orchestrated the murder, enlisting the three men to carry it out. She surrendered in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur and is now in custody.

East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem confirmed that all three men were arrested from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh in a coordinated interstate operation. “Kushwaha was the third to be arrested. He had been in contact with Sonam and is suspected of playing a major role in the planning,” Syiem said.

Adding another layer of complexity, Sonam’s father, Devi Singh Raghuvanshi, denied any link between Kushwaha and his daughter. He accused the police of wrongly implicating her and threatened legal action against the Meghalaya Police.

The video evidence now casts doubt over the claims of non-association, prompting further investigation into the group’s coordination and deception. Public outrage continues to mount online, with many expressing shock at the accused’s presence during the funeral rituals.
