‘My Mother Was Abused On Congress-RJD Stage’: PM Modi Gets Emotional Over Slogans in Bihar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi became visibly emotional on Tuesday as he strongly condemned abusive slogans raised against his late mother from a Congress-RJD stage during Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar. Addressing over 20 lakh women via video conferencing, a choked-up Prime Minister said the incident was an insult not just to his mother, but to all mothers of the country. “Mother is our world. Mother is our self-respect.

I had not even imagined what happened a few days ago in this tradition-rich Bihar. My mother was abused from the stage of RJD-Congress in Bihar,” PM Modi said . He added, “I know… how bad all of you, every mother of Bihar, felt after seeing and hearing this! I know, as much pain as I have in my heart, the people of Bihar are also in the same pain.”

The controversy erupted after a video went viral from an event in Darbhanga on August 28, showing a man hurling abuses at the Prime Minister’s mother . The man, identified as Mohammad Rizvi alias Raza (20), was later arrested . The stage from where the slogans were shouted was part of the yatra being led by Rahul Gandhi, his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav .

Targeting the opposition, PM Modi said that the sacrifices of an ordinary mother cannot be understood by “young princes born into royal families,” for whom power seems like a family inheritance. The Prime Minister spoke of his mother’s struggles and dignity, remarking, “That mother of mine, who has nothing to do with politics, who is no more, was abused from the stage of the RJD, Congress.

My mother separated me from her so that I could serve crores of mothers like you” . The incident drew sharp condemnation from Home Minister Amit Shah, who demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi. “The nation is watching him and his party in disgust,” Shah stated, calling the opposition’s yatra a “Ghuspetiya Bachao Yatra” (Save the Infiltrators Rally)
