New CCTV Clip, Wife’s Shirt Found Near Body Deepen Mystery of Missing Indore Couple
The mysterious disappearance of a newlywed couple from Indore in Meghalaya has deepened with the emergence of new CCTV footage and the discovery of a crucial piece of evidence. The footage shows the couple arriving at a Shillong homestay on May 22, while a shirt worn by the wife, Sonam Jain, was later found near the spot where her husband, Raja Suryavanshi’s, body was recovered.
The couple, who were on their honeymoon, went missing from the Cherrapunji area on May 23. Days later, the body of Raja Suryavanshi (29) was found deep inside a gorge, approximately 20 kilometres from their homestay. A massive search operation has been underway for Sonam for the past 15 days.
The new CCTV clip, reportedly from May 22, shows Raja and Sonam arriving at a homestay in Shillong on a scooter. In the nearly five-minute video, they appear to interact normally. They are seen with a white suitcase, from which they take a few items before riding off again on the scooter. Crucially, the white shirt that Sonam is seen wearing in this footage was later found near Raja’s body, according to Indore Police.
The scooter seen in the video was also found abandoned near the gorge where Raja’s body was discovered, adding another layer to the perplexing case. This new footage provides a clearer timeline of their last known movements before they lost contact with their families. Earlier, another CCTV clip from May 21 had shown the couple checking into a different homestay in Shillong.
While Raja’s body has been brought back to his hometown in Indore for the final rites, Sonam’s brother remains in Shillong, coordinating with local authorities who are continuing the extensive search operation for her.
Indore police are working closely with their counterparts in Meghalaya. The investigation is exploring all possible angles, trying to piece together the sequence of events that led to Raja’s death and Sonam’s disappearance. The discovery of Sonam’s shirt has intensified the mystery, with authorities yet to determine the circumstances of the tragedy.
The families of the couple are anxiously awaiting any news of Sonam, as the search continues in the challenging terrain of Meghalaya.
