New Video Shows Sonam Trekking With Husband Raja Hours Before His Murder
In a significant new development in the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, a video has surfaced showing Sonam Raghuvanshi trekking with her husband, Raja, just hours before he was brutally killed. The footage, captured by a fellow tourist, provides a chilling glimpse into the final hours of the Indore-based businessman’s life and has emerged as his wife has reportedly confessed to her involvement in the murder plot.
The video was shared on Instagram by a travel influencer who was visiting Meghalaya’s famous Double Decker Root Bridge on May 23, the same day the couple was reported missing. He stated that he only discovered the footage while reviewing his travel clips days later.
“I was travelled to Meghalaya double decker root bridge on 23rd May 2025 and recorded videos. Yesterday I was checking videos and I have found recording of the Indore couple… I think this was the last recording of the couple and sonam was wearing the same white shirt which was found near Raja,” the influencer wrote. The shirt is a key piece of evidence in the investigation.
This new evidence has surfaced after Sonam, who was arrested in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, on June 9, reportedly confessed to her role in the crime during police interrogation. Initially, she had claimed that she was a victim who had been drugged, abducted, and abandoned.
However, Meghalaya Police maintain that Sonam, along with her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha and three others, conspired to murder Raja during the honeymoon trip. All five accused are now in police custody.
Raja and Sonam, who married on May 11, travelled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon on May 20. On May 23, they went missing from the Cherrapunji area. A massive search operation led to the discovery of Raja’s body in a deep gorge on June 2.
The case, which has seen several dramatic twists, has taken another emotional turn with both families now demanding the harshest punishment for the accused. Initially, Sonam’s family had defended her and demanded a CBI probe, but following her confession, they have joined Raja’s family in calling for capital punishment for all involved, including Sonam.
