Noida Dowry Death Twist: Inflammable Liquid in Nikki’s Room Sparks Self-Immolation Questions
The investigation into the gruesome Greater Noida dowry death has taken a dramatic turn, with the discovery of inflammable items in the victim’s room raising the possibility that she may have set herself on fire. Police sources confirmed that this new evidence has prompted them to explore a self-immolation angle, challenging the initial narrative that Nikki Bhati was murdered by her husband and in-laws.
According to official sources, an inflammable solution was recovered from Nikki’s room, which has now been sent for forensic evaluation. This finding has forced investigators to revisit the entire timeline and re-examine contradictory claims and evidence, including disturbing videos of the incident.
The case took a new twist with the scrutiny of a video reportedly filmed by Nikki’s elder sister, Kanchan, showing Nikki engulfed in flames. Police are now set to question Kanchan about the video, in which a voice can be heard saying, “Yeh kya kar liya (what have you done)?”, a comment that could be interpreted in multiple ways. Investigators are also looking into the timeline of events, noting that the FIR was lodged by Nikki’s family only after her cremation, which was attended by both families, including the accused.
This development comes after several members of the husband’s family were arrested. The main accused, Nikki’s husband Vipin Bhati, was shot in the leg while allegedly trying to escape police custody. His parents, Satveer and Daya, and his brother, Rohit, are also in custody. CCTV footage has also surfaced showing a man, identified by locals as Vipin, behaving erratically outside his home around the time of the incident.
The initial complaint from Nikki’s family painted a clear picture of relentless dowry harassment. They alleged that since her marriage in 2016, there were constant demands for money and valuables, including a Scorpio SUV, a motorcycle, and ₹36 lakh in cash. This narrative led to the registration of an FIR for murder against the husband and his family.
However, the new evidence, coupled with the puzzling video and the delayed FIR, has introduced significant ambiguity. Police are now meticulously piecing together the evidence, from witness statements to forensic reports and digital data, to determine whether Nikki Bhati was a victim of a brutal dowry murder or if she took the tragic step of self-immolation amid an environment of domestic turmoil.
