Operation Sindoor Diplomacy Begins Today India Sends 2 Delegations Abroad to Counter Terror Narrative

In a bold foreign policy move, India today launched Operation Sindoor Diplomacy, dispatching two of seven multi-party parliamentary delegations overseas to highlight the country’s zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism and expose Pakistan’s involvement in the April 22 Pahalgam massacre and subsequent events.

Two delegations departed Wednesday morning for Japan and the United Arab Emirates, kicking off an extensive international engagement that will see 51 parliamentarians and diplomats visit 32 global capitals over the next two weeks.

The outreach follows India’s precision air strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7 in retaliation for the killing of 26 civilians — mostly Hindus — in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

The third delegation, led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha, left for Japan today and will also visit South Korea (May 24), Singapore (May 27), Indonesia (May 28), and Malaysia (May 31). It includes MPs from BJP, CPI(M), AITC, and Congress, as well as ex-ambassador Mohan Kumar.

The fourth group, headed by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde, flew to the UAE and is scheduled to visit the Democratic Republic of Congo (May 24), Sierra Leone (May 28), and Liberia (May 31). It includes Bansuri Swaraj (BJP), Sasmit Patra (BJD), and former diplomat Sujan Chinoy, among others.

Briefing the teams before departure, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri detailed evidence of Pakistan’s links to terrorist networks operating in India and abroad.

“We will tell the global community that India will no longer remain silent while Pakistan continues to sponsor terror,” said Sanjay Jha.

Shrikant Shinde added, “We aim to build international consensus by presenting evidence of cross-border terrorism and conveying India’s resolve to act decisively.”

These diplomatic missions come in the wake of Operation Sindoor, a military operation conducted by India on May 7 targeting Lashkar and Jaish-e-Mohammad camps across the border. The strikes, followed by a brief but intense exchange of fire with Pakistan, concluded with a ceasefire on May 10.

The government’s decision to launch the diplomatic phase of the operation is aimed at gathering international support and strengthening bilateral ties, especially in regions with strategic influence or high Indian diaspora presence.

Upcoming Delegations

  • Group 1 (led by Baijanta Jay Panda): Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Algeria (May 23–30)
  • Group 2 (led by Ravi Shankar Prasad): France, UK, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Denmark (May 25–June 5)
  • Group 3 (led by Shashi Tharoor): USA, Brazil, Colombia, Panama, Guyana (May 25–June 3)
  • Group 4 (led by Kanimozhi): Russia, Greece, Slovenia, Latvia, Spain (May 22–31)

This rare bipartisan effort features representatives from BJP, Congress, DMK, NCP(SP), TMC, BJD, IUML, CPI(M), and Shiv Sena. It marks a significant shift in India’s diplomatic strategy by mobilizing political unity to confront cross-border terror.
