Operation Sindoor Still Ongoing, Indian Air Force Confirms After India-Pak Ceasefire

The Indian Air Force on Sunday confirmed that Operation Sindoor is still underway, despite the ceasefire agreement brokered by the US between India and Pakistan.

A day after US President Donald Trump announced a “full and immediate” ceasefire between India and Pakistan, the Indian Air Force (IAF) clarified that Operation Sindoor—India’s counter-offensive in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack—remains active and incomplete.

“Since the operations are still ongoing, a detailed briefing will be conducted in due course. The IAF urges all to refrain from speculation and dissemination of unverified information,” the Air Force posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

The IAF further asserted that the operation had been executed with “precision and professionalism” and was “aligned with National Objectives.”

Despite Saturday’s ceasefire deal, fresh hostilities were reported along the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC) on Sunday. Official sources confirmed heavy shelling in Rajouri and Srinagar, prompting a renewed alert across military installations.

Multiple drones were also sighted in sensitive regions. At least four drones were downed near an Army headquarters in Srinagar, activating air defence protocols and triggering temporary blackouts.

Operation Sindoor was launched in the immediate aftermath of the Pahalgam terror strike, which New Delhi attributed to Pakistan-backed militants. The attack killed multiple personnel and reignited tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbours.

The IAF’s role has reportedly included precision strikes on terror launchpads and logistical hubs across the border. While Pakistan denies direct involvement in the Pahalgam attack, its Air Force’s recent admission of past involvement in the 2019 Pulwama attack has drawn global attention.

The IAF’s statement suggests that while diplomatic channels remain open, military operations are far from over. A detailed press briefing is expected once the current phase of the mission concludes.
