Pahalgam Attack Avenged: All 3 Lashkar Terrorists Killed in Op Mahadev, Says Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that all three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists responsible for the deadly Pahalgam attack have been killed by security forces in “Operation Mahadev.” The announcement confirmed that the perpetrators of the April 22 massacre, which left 26 civilians dead, have been neutralized.

Participating in a discussion on ‘Operation Sindoor’ in Parliament, Shah stated that the terrorists had killed innocent civilians after identifying their religion in the Baisaran Valley. “In a joint operation, the Army, CRPF and J&K Police have neutralised the three terrorists who were involved in the attack,” he said.

The three slain terrorists were identified as top Lashkar commander Suleiman Shah, Afghan, and Jibran. Shah revealed that their identities were confirmed by two locals, Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar and Bashir Ahmad, who had been arrested last month by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for providing shelter to the attackers after the carnage.

“The people who used to supply food to them (terrorists) were detained earlier. Once the bodies of these terrorists were brought to Srinagar, they were identified by those who were kept detained by our agencies,” Shah explained.

Providing further details on the operation, the Home Minister said that the identities of the terrorists were rigorously matched. “The FSL report of the cartridges from the terror attack was already ready… Yesterday, the rifles of the three terrorists were seized and matched with the FSL reports… After that, it was confirmed that these three were those who carried out the terror attack,” he added. Shah also mentioned that security forces were given explicit instructions not to allow the perpetrators to leave the country.

The April 22 attack in Pahalgam was one of the deadliest strikes on civilians in the region in recent years, targeting tourists in a popular meadow. The attackers reportedly singled out victims based on their religion before opening fire.

Amid sloganeering from the opposition benches during his announcement, Shah took a swipe at his political opponents. “I was expecting that when they hear this news of the killing of the Pahalgam terrorists, they would be happy, but instead they don’t seem happy about it,” he remarked.
