Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received Kuwait’s highest civilian honor, ‘The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer.’ This award marks the 20th international accolade given to him by a foreign nation.

The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer, established in 1974, is a prestigious knighthood order. It is awarded to heads of state, foreign sovereigns, and members of royal families as a symbol of friendship. Notable past recipients include former U.S. Presidents George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton, as well as Prince Charles.

During a ceremonial event at the Bayan Palace in Kuwait City, the Amir of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, presented the award. Prime Minister Modi received the award. Expressing his gratitude, PM Modi stated, “I am honoured to be conferred the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Order by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait… I dedicate this honour to the people of India and to the strong friendship between India and Kuwait.”

This honor underscores the strengthening bilateral relations between India and Kuwait. These relations are particularly evident in areas such as trade, energy, and cultural exchange. The Indian community in Kuwait, numbering over a million, plays a pivotal role in fostering these ties.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Kuwait is historic, being the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 43 years. The visit included a ceremonial guard of honor. There were extensive discussions with Kuwaiti leadership. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation across various sectors.

In recent months, PM Modi has received several international honors. These include the ‘Order of Excellence’ from Guyana and the ‘Dominica Award of Honour.’ This reflects global recognition of his leadership and India’s growing international stature.

The conferment of ‘The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer’ not only celebrates PM Modi’s individual achievements but also signifies the enduring friendship and collaborative spirit between India and Kuwait.
