PM Modi Slams Opposition on Op Sindoor, While Addressing NDA Parliamentary Party Meeting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting, using the fifth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 to launch a sharp attack on the Opposition. He claimed that the opposition parties had “misplayed” their hand by demanding a debate on “Operation Sindoor” and were now regretting the move after getting “thrashed” in the discussion.

Speaking to the ruling alliance’s MPs, the Prime Minister highlighted the significance of the date, drawing a parallel between several key events. “On August 5, we abrogated Article 370. On August 5, we laid the foundation of the Ram Mandir. And now, on August 5, look at the Opposition, where else will you find such an Opposition that hurts its own foot by demanding a debate on Operation Sindoor?” he said in a pointed jibe.

He contrasted his government’s actions with the Opposition’s stance on Jammu and Kashmir, reiterating that while they frequently speak of the Constitution, it was the BJP-led NDA that truly applied it in the region by removing the special status. “They speak about the Constitution, but never allowed it to be fully implemented in J&K,” he stated, framing the 2019 move as one that fully integrated the region with the Indian Union.

The Prime Minister claimed the Opposition had fundamentally miscalculated its strategy by insisting on a parliamentary debate over Operation Sindoor, India’s retaliatory military action following the Pahalgam terror attack. “The Opposition insisted on a debate. But they got thrashed in the discussion, and now they must be regretting it,” he asserted. “They lost the chance to corner the government and instead exposed their lack of coherence and national perspective.”
