PM Modi Warns Pakistan: Retaliation Only Paused, Not Ended
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India’s military retaliation against Pakistan has only been paused, not ended, and warned Islamabad to dismantle its terror infrastructure.
In a strong message to Islamabad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi clarified during his address to the nation that India’s ceasefire with Pakistan is conditional and temporary. “We have only so far paused our retaliatory action… in the coming days, we will test every step of Pakistan,” he said.
The Prime Minister revealed that the ceasefire understanding was initiated by Pakistan, not India. “When Pakistan urged and ensured they would not act, then India also thought about it,” he added.
PM Modi reiterated India’s firm stance against terrorism. “Terror or talk can’t go together, terror and trade cannot go hand-in-hand… water and blood also cannot flow together,” he said.
He also declared that if there are any future discussions with Pakistan, they will only concern Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
In his first national address since the launch of Operation Sindoor, the Prime Minister said that Indian forces successfully dismantled nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and PoK. Over 100 terrorists were killed in the offensive.
“Due to this action of India, Pakistan fell into despair… they became furious,” he said, accusing the Pakistan military of siding with terror groups instead of cracking down on them.
Modi also accused Pakistan of attacking Indian military and civilian establishments in response to Operation Sindoor, prompting India to strike back with precision.
“Our drones and missiles hit precisely… the airbases which Pakistan was proud of were damaged by India… in three days we destroyed Pakistan beyond their imagination,” the Prime Minister stated.
India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on Saturday after four days of escalated military action across land, air and sea. The truce was announced globally by US President Donald Trump.
However, the ceasefire was breached by Pakistan within hours as drones were detected and intercepted in Jammu, Srinagar, Punjab, and Rajasthan.
India’s Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 civilians, including tourists. The attackers were linked to terror groups based in Pakistan.
PM Modi, in multiple high-level meetings prior to the ceasefire, had vowed a decisive response.
Ending his address, PM Modi emphasized that Pakistan must eliminate terrorism if it wants peace. “Pakistan will have to eliminate its terror infrastructure to survive,” he said, making it clear that the onus of long-term peace lies with Islamabad.
