Prajwal Revanna Rape Case: Court to Deliver Verdict Today

A special court in Bengaluru is scheduled to pronounce its verdict today, August 1, in the high-profile rape case against former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna. The court had deferred its order on Thursday, seeking further clarification on technical aspects of the case.
The delay was prompted by the court’s need for more information regarding the transfer of an alleged sex video from Prajwal Revanna’s mobile phone to that of his driver, Karthik. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case has since submitted a detailed report addressing these technical queries, clearing the way for the verdict.
Prajwal Revanna is facing multiple serious allegations, with four separate FIRs for rape registered against him at the Holenarasipura police station between April 28 and June 10, 2024. Additionally, two other cases were filed at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Bengaluru, with one being handled directly by the CID’s cybercrime unit.
The investigation into all these cases was consolidated and handed over to a specially constituted SIT operating under the state’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The probe also encompasses a separate case registered at the KR Nagar Police Station against Prajwal’s father, Holenarasipura MLA H.D. Revanna, and others, which is also being investigated by the same SIT. The court’s decision today is eagerly awaited and will be a crucial moment in this sprawling and sensitive case.
