Ram Darbar Pran Pratishtha Today: Second Consecration Ceremony at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple
The second Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Lord Ram will be held at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on Thursday, June 5, marking the consecration of Raja Ram and other deities on the temple’s first floor. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will preside over the ceremony, which begins at 11am.
This historic event represents the second major consecration at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex, following the first Pran Pratishtha ceremony held in January 2024 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the temple. The current three-day celebration began on June 3 and culminates today with the final ceremony.
The Anjaneya Sewa Trust is organizing the event, with rituals commencing at 11am on Thursday. Chief Minister Adityanath will perform the ceremonial ‘uncovering of the eyes’ of Lord Ram and Sita’s idols, marking a significant spiritual milestone.
Shashikant Maharaj, president of Anjani Seva Sansthan, explained that the ceremony will begin with Vedic chanting and havan. The event coincides with CM Adityanath’s 53rd birthday, adding personal significance to the occasion.
In the Ram Darbar, an idol of Lord Ram will be placed alongside Mata Sita on a two-foot-high white marble throne. Idols of Lord Hanuman and Lakshman will also be positioned in sitting positions. All sculptures and the throne have been crafted from white marble in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
The Ram Darbar measures 4.5 feet, constructed within the temple’s traditional Nagara architectural style. The temple walls feature intricately sculpted depictions of Hindu deities.
Renowned costume designer Manish Tiwari has designed the deity’s attire, which includes intricately designed crowns, bejewelled belts, embroidered robes, and fabrics embedded with zari and precious stones.
For the auspicious occasion, 62,000 boxes of prasad are being dispatched from Lucknow. Kshitij Gupta, Marketing Head of Chhappan Bhog, confirmed they have prepared Barfi with a mixture of chickpeas and Moongdal.
Elaborate security arrangements have been implemented in Ayodhya for the three-day rituals. CRPF, SSF, and PAC personnel have been deployed throughout the city. The verification process for tenants and residents of unauthorized settlements has begun.
Despite the ceremony, devotees have not been banned from routine darshan of Ram Lalla. However, only a limited number of devotees will be allowed access to the temple’s first floor to maintain the site’s sanctity.
Mahamandaleshwar Vishnu Das explained the significance of the ceremony to ANI: “On January 22, ‘Pran Pratishtha’ was done for the ‘baal roop’ (child form) of Lord Rama, now it is Raja Ram (King Ram).”
This distinction highlights the evolution from the child form of Lord Ram consecrated in January to the royal form being installed today.
The second floor of the temple will feature a display of the Ramayana in multiple languages, including its oldest known version. The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir showcases traditional Indian temple architecture with detailed sculptural work.
The first Pran Pratishtha ceremony took place on January 22, 2024, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Ram Mandir. That ceremony marked the culmination of decades of legal and social movements surrounding the site.
