RCB’s IPL Victory Parade in Bengaluru Cancelled Due to Traffic Congestion Fears
The much-anticipated open bus parade planned by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to celebrate their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 triumph has been cancelled, primarily due to concerns over heavy traffic congestion in the city. The Bengaluru Traffic Police reportedly denied permission for the parade, which was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
RCB had announced the victory parade after their thrilling six-run win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL final on Tuesday night in Ahmedabad. The celebratory event was originally set to begin at 3:30 PM IST on June 4, starting from Vidhana Soudha and concluding at the team’s home ground, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Following the cancellation of the parade, a revised schedule has been put in place. The RCB team will now be felicitated at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru from 5 PM to 6 PM today, Wednesday. Prior to this, the players are expected to meet the Honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, at Vidhana Soudha and will then proceed directly to the stadium for the felicitation.
Entry to the felicitation event at the Chinnaswamy Stadium will be strictly restricted to those holding valid tickets or passes. Authorities have strongly advised attendees and the general public to utilize the Metro and other forms of public transport due to very limited parking availability around the stadium.
In light of the event and expected crowds, the Bengaluru Traffic Police have issued an advisory urging the public to avoid the Central Business District (CBD) area, particularly roads surrounding Vidhana Soudha and Chinnaswamy Stadium, from 3 PM IST to 8 PM IST on June 4. This is to ease potential traffic snarls and manage crowd movement.
The cancellation of the open bus parade has come as a disappointment to many RCB fans who were eager to celebrate their team’s historic first IPL title on the streets of Bengaluru. However, the felicitation ceremony at the stadium will still provide an opportunity for a formal celebration of the team’s achievement after an 18-year wait.
