‘Screening Doesn’t Stop’: US Embassy Issues Fresh Visa Revocation, Deportation Warning

The US embassy in India issued a fresh and stern advisory on Saturday, warning that American visa screening continues even after a visa is granted and that violators of US laws face the risk of having their visas revoked and being deported.
In a direct message posted on the social media platform X, the embassy reinforced the Donald Trump administration’s hardline stance on immigration compliance.
“U.S. visa screening does not stop after a visa is issued. We continuously check visa holders to ensure they follow all U.S. laws and immigration rules – and we will revoke their visas and deport them if they don’t,” the embassy stated.
The advisory is the latest in a string of tough-toned communications from the US mission in India over the past few weeks, putting visa holders and applicants on notice. These messages come against the backdrop of an ongoing immigration crackdown by the Trump administration in the United States.
On June 28, the embassy had warned that individuals staying illegally or committing visa fraud would be “held responsible” and could face “significant criminal penalties.” This followed a June 19 advisory that reminded applicants that a US visa is “a privilege, not a right.”
The embassy has also tightened the application process itself. On June 26, it reiterated a policy requiring visa applicants to list all social media usernames they have used over the last five years on their application forms. It warned that “omitting social media information could lead to visa denial and ineligibility for future visas.”
Saturday’s message further underscores that obtaining a US visa is not the end of scrutiny and that all visitors are expected to strictly adhere to the terms of their stay and all American laws.
