Shashi Tharoor, Supriya Sule Among 7 MPs to Lead India’s Global Anti-Terror Diplomacy

India has appointed a seven-member All-Party Delegation, including Shashi Tharoor and Supriya Sule, to brief key foreign nations on the country’s anti-terror stance post Operation Sindoor.
In a strong display of bipartisan unity, the Indian government has nominated seven senior Members of Parliament to spearhead an international outreach campaign following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. The initiative aims to build global consensus on India’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism.
The delegation includes leaders from across the political spectrum:
- Shashi Tharoor (Congress)
- Supriya Sule (NCP)
- Ravi Shankar Prasad (BJP)
- Shrikant Shinde (Shiv Sena)
- Kanimozhi Karunanidhi (DMK)
- Baijayant Panda (BJP)
- Sanjay Kumar Jha (JDU)
Announcing the initiative on X, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said, “Seven All-Party Delegations will soon visit key partner nations, carrying our shared message of zero-tolerance to terrorism. A powerful reflection of national unity above politics, beyond differences.”
Sources in the government said the delegations will travel to strategic partner countries including the United States, United Kingdom, South Africa, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. The outreach will begin post-May 22, with diplomatic channels in these nations already notified.
This move comes as part of India’s broader strategy to globally isolate Pakistan over alleged cross-border terrorism, following its retaliatory strikes under Operation Sindoor. The attack on Indian security personnel in Pahalgam had triggered national outrage and firm action from New Delhi.
According to government insiders, the MPs will engage in parliamentary briefings, meetings with diplomats, and intergovernmental consultations to present evidence and India’s case regarding the recent conflict.
The April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of several Indian soldiers, was met with a swift military and diplomatic response from India. The retaliatory strikes under Operation Sindoor marked a significant escalation in India’s counter-terror strategy.
The success of this global campaign could shape international diplomatic alignment ahead of upcoming UN sessions and regional security summits.
