“Sindoor Turned Barood”: PM Modi Slams Pakistan at Bikaner Rally, Hails Armed Forces’ Response

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched a direct and scathing attack on Pakistan over the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, hailing India’s swift retaliation and stating that those responsible have been “buried beneath their own rubble.” Addressing a massive public rally in Bikaner, Rajasthan, PM Modi invoked strong nationalistic sentiments, emphasizing that India’s armed forces were given a “free hand” to strike back within minutes of the attack.

Speaking on the April 22 terrorist strike, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, PM Modi said the attackers specifically targeted civilians, even wiping off the sindoor of married women. “The bullets fired in Pahalgam pierced the hearts of 140 crore Indians,” he declared. He added that “those who set out to wipe off the sindoor have been buried in the soil.”

The Prime Minister said that India responded in a historic manner, launching a retaliatory operation just 22 minutes after the attack. “Pakistan was forced to bow. Terrorist camps were destroyed. Those who thought India would stay silent are now hiding in their homes,” he said.

PM Modi’s remarks come amid growing nationalist sentiment following India’s strong response to the April attack. The retaliatory strike, unofficially referred to as “Operation Sindoor,” reportedly targeted multiple terror launch pads and was carried out by coordinated action from all three Indian armed forces.

“Our army was given a free hand. All three forces together created such a Chakravyuh that Pakistan was forced to kneel down,” the Prime Minister asserted, drawing loud applause from the crowd.

PM Modi is scheduled to visit Nal Air Force Station in Bikaner later today to interact with defence personnel. It is significant, as the base was among those reportedly targeted by Pakistani forces during the April escalation, though Indian defences successfully neutralized the threat.

Besides addressing national security concerns, PM Modi used the rally platform to announce several key infrastructure and welfare initiatives for Rajasthan, amounting to ₹26,000 crore.

He inaugurated the redeveloped Deshnoke Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which aims to modernize over 1,300 railway stations nationwide.

He also laid the foundation stone for the Churu-Sadulpur rail line (58 km) and dedicated the electrification of five key rail sections across Rajasthan, including:

  • Suratgarh-Phalodi (336 km)
  • Phulera-Degana (109 km)
  • Udaipur-Himmatnagar (210 km)
  • Phalodi-Jaisalmer (157 km)
  • Samdari-Barmer (129 km)

The rally, held ahead of the final phases of Lok Sabha polling, was also seen as a strong political message in Rajasthan, a state with high voter turnout and strategic relevance.

On April 22, heavily armed terrorists attacked a group of civilians in Pahalgam, Kashmir, killing 26 people. Eyewitnesses reported that attackers asked for victims’ religion before opening fire. The incident triggered nationwide outrage and calls for a strong government response.
