SP MP Ramjilal Suman’s Convoy Attacked by Karni Sena Members in Aligarh
Samajwadi Party MP Ramjilal Suman’s convoy was attacked by Karni Sena members near Khereshwar Chauraha in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday, leading to multiple vehicle collisions.
Visuals circulating online show Karni Sena members hurling tyres at high-speed police vehicles in Suman’s convoy. The sudden assault caused several vehicles to swerve, collide, and sustain damage. The incident occurred near Khereshwar Chauraha, shortly after the convoy was stopped at Gabhana toll plaza, according to reports.
Ramjilal Suman was reportedly traveling to Bulandshahr to meet families affected by a tragic incident earlier in the week. On Tuesday, a speeding SUV allegedly ran over a group of Dalits, resulting in the death of a woman named Sheela Devi. Suman’s visit was part of an outreach effort to provide support and seek justice for the victims.
Police have arrested four men linked to the Bulandshahr SUV incident. An FIR was filed at Kotwali Dehat police station against six accused — Tapesh Kumar, his son Priyanshu, and associates Varun Kumar, Atul Singh, Krishna Singh, and Manav Kumar. They face serious charges under BNS sections for murder (103), attempt to murder (109), rioting (191), criminal intimidation (351), and relevant provisions of the SC/ST Act.
According to the complaint cited by TOI, the SUV was deliberately driven forward and backward multiple times with the intent to kill the victims.
The attack on Suman’s convoy comes amid rising tensions over caste violence in Uttar Pradesh. The Karni Sena, known for its aggressive demonstrations, has frequently clashed with political leaders over issues relating to caste and community grievances.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the convoy attack. Additional police forces have been deployed in the area to prevent any further escalation. Meanwhile, SP leaders have condemned the incident, demanding strict action against those responsible.
