'Speaking Like A Local Goon': BJP Slams Rahul Gandhi Over 'Dance' Dig At PM Modi

A fierce war of words has erupted in Bihar after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, at a joint rally with RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, took a sharp “dance” dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, prompting a furious backlash from the BJP. The saffron party accused Gandhi of insulting the Prime Minister and the voters of Bihar, with one leader saying he “speaks like a local goon.”The controversy ignited after Gandhi, addressing a rally in Muzaffarpur, told the crowd, “You are also able to understand political intricacies in a matter of seconds. I would urge you not to be swayed by the drama of Narendra Modi.

He would be ready to dance on the stage if he sensed that it would fetch you votes”. The comment drew an immediate and sharp response from the BJP. Leader Pradeep Bhandari posted on X, accusing Gandhi of openly insulting “every poor person of India and Bihar who voted for Prime Minister Narendra Modi” and mocking Indian democracy. This was just one of several attacks Gandhi launched during his first election rally in the state.

He accused the BJP of running the Bihar government “through remote control” while merely using Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s face. He also mocked the Prime Minister’s recent Chhath Puja observance, calling his dip in the Yamuna a “swimming pool drama.” “When it came to the fore that it was a water body created through piped water, Modi flinched,” Gandhi said, adding that the PM has “nothing to do with Chhath Puja” and “only wants your vote”.The Congress leader further alleged that “two Indias are emerging” under the Modi government—one for billionaires and another for ordinary citizens, which is why states like Bihar remain impoverished.

He also reiterated his charge of “vote chori” (vote theft), alleging that the BJP “stole elections in Maharashtra, they stole elections in Haryana, and they will try their best in Bihar” through the voter list revision (SIR) process. The BJP hit back strongly, with spokesperson Ajay Alok demanding an apology from Gandhi for “insulting Chhath Puja”.
