Tejashwi Yadav Escapes Unhurt as Truck Rams Convoy; 3 Cops Injured

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Bihar’s Leader of the Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, had a narrow escape early on Saturday morning when a speeding truck rammed into vehicles in his convoy, injuring three police personnel. The incident occurred on the Patna-Muzaffarpur National Highway near Goraul in Vaishali district.

The accident took place around 12:30 am when Yadav and his entourage, returning to Patna from a program in Madhepura, had pulled over for a tea break. The RJD leader said the truck crashed into two to three vehicles just feet away from where he was standing.

“We were returning from a program in Madhepura and had stopped to have tea. While we were stopped, a truck lost balance and crashed into 2-3 vehicles right in front of me,” Yadav told reporters after visiting the injured personnel. “Our security personnel were standing there, the truck hit them… The accident happened just five feet away from me. If it had gone slightly more off balance, it could have hit us too.”

Three policemen sustained injuries in the collision. Vaishali Superintendent of Police, Lalit Mohan Sharma, confirmed that two of the injured were from Tejashwi Yadav’s security detail and one was from the district police force. Two have been referred to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for better treatment, while the third is being treated at a government hospital in Hajipur. Doctors have stated that all the injured personnel are now out of danger.

Following the accident, Yadav immediately alerted the district administration and police. The truck, which had attempted to flee the scene, was intercepted and stopped by local authorities at a nearby toll plaza. The driver and his helper have been arrested, and the vehicle has been seized.

Tejashwi Yadav, who rushed to the hospital to check on his injured security staff, called for stringent enforcement of traffic laws. “Strict action should be taken against those whose negligence led to this incident,” he demanded.
