Tragic Accident on Jaipur-Ajmer Highway: 5 Dead, Over 35 Injured

A devastating accident occurred on the Jaipur-Ajmer Highway early Friday morning. A truck carrying LPG gas collided with multiple vehicles. This resulted in a massive fire. The incident occurred near a petrol pump in the Bhankrota area. It has led to significant loss of life. There was also considerable damage to property.

Casualties and Injuries

According to Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph, five individuals have lost their lives. Thirty-seven others have sustained injuries. Many of the injuries are critical. The injured were promptly transported to SMS Hospital, where medical teams are providing urgent care. Dr. Deepak Maheshwari, Principal of SMS Medical College, reported that approximately 25 patients have been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. More patients are expected to arrive.

Extent of the Damage

The collision led to a catastrophic fire that engulfed around 40 vehicles, including trucks and passenger vehicles. A 300-meter stretch of the highway was severely affected, causing traffic disruptions and long queues of vehicles. Firefighters and emergency services worked tirelessly to control the blaze. They prevented it from spreading to nearby petrol pumps. Fortunately, these pumps remained unaffected.

Government Response

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma visited the accident site and the hospital to oversee rescue and relief operations. He expressed deep sorrow over the incident and directed medical teams to ensure all necessary treatments for the injured. In a statement, he said, “I pray to the Lord to grant the departed souls a place in his supreme abode. I hope he gives the bereaved families strength to bear this immense loss. May he provide speedy recovery to the injured.”

Investigation and Safety Measures

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary reports suggest that the truck was loaded with chemicals. These chemicals have contributed to the rapid spread of the fire. Rajasthan Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar mentioned that a high-level committee must investigate. This investigation is necessary to prevent such incidents in the future.

Traffic Advisory

The Jaipur-Ajmer Highway remains closed to facilitate rescue operations and debris clearance. Commuters are advised to use alternative routes and follow traffic advisories issued by local authorities.
