Two SpiceJet Flyers Try To Enter Cockpit Mid-Taxi, Offloaded; Flight Delayed By 7 Hours

A SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Mumbai was delayed by nearly seven hours on Monday after two unruly passengers created a major disruption onboard, including attempting to forcefully approach the cockpit while the aircraft was taxiing for takeoff.

The incident occurred on flight SG 9282, which was scheduled to depart from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport at 12:30 pm. According to the airline, the two passengers refused to follow instructions from the cabin crew and the captain, causing a serious safety concern that forced the pilot to abort the takeoff.

“On July 14, 2025, two unruly passengers were offloaded from SpiceJet flight SG 9282,” a SpiceJet spokesperson said in a statement. “The two attempted to forcefully approach the cockpit and caused a disruption while the aircraft was taxiing. Despite repeated requests by the cabin crew, fellow passengers, and the Captain, they refused to return to their seats.”

In the interest of safety for all passengers and crew, the captain made the decision to return the aircraft to the parking bay. The two disruptive individuals were then offloaded and handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the paramilitary force in charge of airport security.

The flight, which was held up due to the incident, eventually departed for Mumbai at 7:21 pm, a delay of almost seven hours, according to data from the flight tracking website Flightradar24.com.

This incident is the latest in a series of disruptions caused by unruly passengers, which has prompted aviation regulator DGCA to take a strict stance on such behavior to ensure flight safety. Attempting to enter the cockpit is considered a very serious breach of aviation security rules globally.
