Udaipur College Erupts in Protest After MBBS Student’s Suicide, Note Alleges ‘Torture’ by Staff

An MBBS student at Pacific Dental College in Udaipur died by suicide in her hostel room on Thursday night. A note found at the scene alleges severe mental harassment and financial demands by college staff, sparking massive protests on the campus. The student was found hanging by her roommate at approximately 11 pm and was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital.
The handwritten note left by the student details allegations of “torture” by members of the college administration. It claims the staff engaged in unfair practices, including creating irregular examination schedules, deliberately failing students, and making repeated demands for money. The note further alleges that students who could not meet these financial demands were singled out and subjected to increased pressure.
In the wake of the student’s death, the campus has become a center of protest. A video circulating on social media shows a large group of students gathered at the main gate of the college, shouting slogans and demanding accountability. The protesting students blocked the entrance and staged a sit-in, insisting on immediate action against the staff members named in the suicide note. They have accused the administration of fostering a high-pressure environment related to attendance and examinations, which has led to significant distress among the student body.
Police from the Sukher station arrived at the scene to manage the situation and attempted to disperse the demonstrators. However, the students have remained steadfast in their demands for justice for the deceased. An investigation into the allegations is currently underway.
