US to Support India in Tracing Pahalgam Attackers, Says Spy Chief Tulsi Gabbard
US intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard on Friday pledged full American support to India as it seeks to identify and eliminate the terrorists responsible for the deadly Pahalgam attack.
United States Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has expressed solidarity with India following the brutal terrorist assault in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that left 26 Hindu tourists dead.
“We stand in solidarity with India in the wake of the horrific Islamist terrorist attack,” Gabbard posted on X (formerly Twitter), adding, “We are with you and support you as you hunt down those responsible for this heinous attack.”
She extended condolences to the victims’ families, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the people of India, condemning what she termed a “horrific” act of violence.
Former US President Donald Trump also condemned the attack, calling it “deeply disturbing news out of Kashmir.”
“The United States stands strong with India against terrorism. Prime Minister Modi and the incredible people of India have our full support,” Trump said on Truth Social.
Trump reportedly called PM Modi on Wednesday to personally convey condolences and reaffirm America’s support.
“President Trump strongly condemned the terror attack and expressed full support to India to bring to justice the perpetrators of this heinous act,” said Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.
Earlier, US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce echoed similar sentiments during a press briefing. Responding to a Pakistani journalist, Bruce said, “President Trump and Secretary Rubio have made clear, the United States stands with India, strongly condemns all acts of terrorism.”
Bruce called for justice for the victims and emphasized Washington’s commitment to India’s fight against cross-border terrorism.
On Tuesday, terrorists affiliated with The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, gunned down 26 tourists in a targeted attack in Pahalgam’s Baisaran meadow.
The massacre has sparked global outrage, prompting India to suspend the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty and downgrade diplomatic ties with Pakistan.
The Modi government has vowed to bring all perpetrators and their supporters to justice, launching an intensified counterterror operation across Jammu and Kashmir.
As diplomatic momentum builds in the aftermath of the Pahalgam killings, the latest statements from US leadership underline the strengthening of India-US counterterrorism cooperation.
Observers believe the strategic partnership between both nations is likely to deepen further as India mounts pressure on Pakistan diplomatically and militarily.
