US VP JD Vance Will Arrives in India Tomorrow ; Tariffs, Trade Deal On The Agenda
US Vice President JD Vance will arrive in India on Monday for a four-day visit, with key talks on trade, tariffs, and strategic ties scheduled with PM Narendra Modi.
US Vice President JD Vance will land in New Delhi at 10 am on Monday, marking his first official visit to India since Donald Trump returned to the White House. Accompanied by his Indian-origin wife, Usha Vance, and their three children, the Vice President will hold high-level discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, centered around the pending Bilateral Trade Agreement.
The meeting, scheduled for 6:30 pm, is expected to cover a broad range of topics including reciprocal tariffs imposed under President Trump, which are currently under a 90-day pause, and steps toward boosting economic and strategic cooperation between the two nations.
Prime Minister Modi will host a formal dinner for the Vance family at his residence following the talks.
JD Vance will be accompanied by at least five senior US officials, including representatives from the Pentagon and the State Department. The delegation will stay at ITC Maurya Sheraton during their New Delhi leg of the tour.
On Tuesday, Vance will travel to Jaipur along with his family. They are expected to visit Amer Fort and address a gathering at the Rajasthan International Centre. The Vice President will later travel to Agra on Wednesday to see the Taj Mahal and Shilpgram, before returning to Jaipur for an overnight stay at the luxurious Rambagh Palace.
The visit comes amid ongoing negotiations over a trade deal. The Trump administration’s decision to impose 26% tariffs on Indian exports remains a key concern for New Delhi. Analysts believe the Modi-Vance meeting could be a pivotal step toward resolving trade tensions and cementing ties under the Trump 2.0 administration.
Sources close to the matter told HT that both sides are working toward a “pragmatic and mutually beneficial framework” for trade cooperation.
Apart from bilateral talks, Vance is expected to speak at a public policy event during his trip, addressing diplomats, Indian officials, and foreign policy experts. His speech is likely to outline the Trump administration’s vision for US-India relations.
The four-day visit will conclude on April 24, with the Vance family departing for the United States from Jaipur.
