‘Voter Fraud in Priyanka, Akhilesh, Stalin Seats’: BJP’s Counter-Punch to Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Vote Theft’ Claims

In a dramatic counter-offensive, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday turned the tables on the opposition’s “vote chori” campaign, alleging massive voter fraud in the high-profile constituencies of top INDIA bloc leaders, including Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Akhilesh and Dimple Yadav, Abhishek Banerjee, and M.K. Stalin.
Unveiling a 70-slide presentation, the BJP claimed to have uncovered hundreds of thousands of “doubtful” or “fake” voters in key opposition strongholds like Rae Bareli, Wayanad, and Kannauj, accusing its rivals of relying on a “Ghuspaithiya vote bank” for political survival.
Leading the charge, Union Minister Anurag Thakur presented what he described as a strong rebuttal to Rahul Gandhi’s recent allegations of voter roll manipulation in Bengaluru. “Will all these opposition leaders resign after what they call ‘vote chori’?”
Thakur challenged, arguing that the opposition’s protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was a desperate attempt to prevent the cleanup of these fraudulent lists. “The Opposition is using Ghuspaithiya vote bank for political survival. Rahul Gandhi is a propaganda king,” he declared.
The BJP detailed its findings, claiming over 200,000 doubtful voters in Rae Bareli, won by Rahul Gandhi, including over 52,000 linked to bogus birth certificates. In Wayanad, from where Priyanka Gandhi Vadra won after Rahul vacated the seat, the party alleged the presence of over 93,000 doubtful voters.
The numbers were even higher in other constituencies, with the BJP claiming nearly 260,000 doubtful voters in TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee’s Diamond Harbour seat, over 291,000 in Akhilesh Yadav’s Kannauj seat, and more than 255,000 in Dimple Yadav’s Mainpuri constituency. Even Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin’s Kolathur seat was not spared, with the BJP alleging nearly 20,000 doubtful voters there.
Thakur outlined five primary patterns of alleged fraud identified by the party’s investigation: the creation of duplicate voters, the use of fake addresses, the inclusion of “fake relatives,” manipulation of ages, and unexplained mass additions of voters to the rolls. This aggressive counter-attack aims to dismantle the opposition’s narrative and reframe the debate over electoral integrity, suggesting that the problem of fraudulent voters is a systemic issue that benefits the very leaders who are now crying foul.
