Woman Alleges 9 Fake Votes Registered at Her Address in BJP's Lone Kerala Seat

A shocking claim has emerged from Thrissur, Kerala, where a woman alleges that nine “fake” voters have been registered against her residential address in the Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency, the only seat won by the BJP in the state in the 2024 elections. This new allegation adds significant weight to the ongoing accusations of widespread voter fraud and manipulation of electoral rolls by opposition parties across India.

Prasanna, who resides in Poonkunnam’s Capital Village Apartments, states that she is the sole voter from her family registered in Thrissur city. Her four adult family members are registered to vote in their native village of Poochinipadam. She discovered the nine additional names recently when someone approached her for voter verification. “We don’t know any of them. We have been living here for four years. It’s not right to add names to our address without our consent,” Prasanna said, confirming she has filed a complaint with the district collector.

The allegations have been amplified by CPM workers, who claim similar irregularities in other Poonkunnam flats, including Water Lily and Capital Village, where vacant properties were allegedly used to transfer votes from other districts. “The fact that the real flat owner doesn’t even know these people makes the issue serious,” CPM workers asserted.

This echoes the long-standing concerns raised by CPM leader and former Thrissur candidate VS Sunil Kumar, who accused the Election Commission of enabling large-scale irregularities by allowing voter registration with simple postal card address proof. Sunil Kumar specifically cited an instance where 280 applications arrived together in one booth, adding names of individuals from other constituencies and even migrant workers.

The timing of these allegations is particularly sensitive, as they reinforce the broader narrative of “vote theft” and electoral malpractices being championed by the INDIA bloc, led by Rahul Gandhi. Opposition Leader VD Satheesan has demanded a thorough probe into the complaints, accusing the BJP of “adding votes in the wrong way” and undermining free and fair elections.

He praised Rahul Gandhi for highlighting alleged poll manipulation and urged citizens to resist what he termed “fascism, autocracy, and communalism.” The Thrissur constituency saw a close contest in 2024, with BJP’s Suresh Gopi securing a victory against Sunil Kumar of the LDF and K Muraleedharan of the UDF.
