Karnataka Minister Claims 48 Minster Honey Trapped Including Central Leaders

Karnataka Cooperation Minister KN Rajanna sparked a major controversy on Thursday, alleging that 48 politicians, including central leaders, have been honey-trapped, prompting calls for a high-level investigation into the explosive claims.

During a heated Karnataka Assembly session on March 20, 2025, Minister KN Rajanna claimed that 48 political figures, spanning parties and including central leaders, were victims of honey trapping. He stated that the issue has tarnished the state’s political landscape.

Rajanna announced plans to file a written complaint with Home Minister G Parameshwara, urging a thorough investigation. “Who are the producers and directors behind this? The people must know,” he said, gesturing towards both ruling and opposition benches.

“As per my knowledge, about 48 people have fallen victim to these CDs and pen drives, not just one or two,” Rajanna told the Assembly. He clarified that the issue affects politicians across party lines, including himself and Parameshwara, both from Tumakuru.

Rajanna’s son, MLC Rajendra, revealed that honey trap attempts have persisted for six months. “They call on WhatsApp or send messages. Let the investigation be complete,” he said, backing his father’s call for a probe.

Public Works Minister Sathish Jarkiholi confirmed that a Karnataka minister faced two unsuccessful honey trap attempts. “This is not new in Karnataka. We’ve asked the minister to file a complaint,” he said, noting its prevalence across parties.

Home Minister G Parameshwara, unaware of the specifics, promised to gather information from the department. “I will ask for details. There might be speculations, but I’ll confirm with the department,” he assured the Assembly.

Leader of Opposition R Ashoka called for a judicial probe, saying, “Let a sitting judge investigate this serious matter.” BJP MLC CT Ravi also demanded a special squad to uncover the truth behind the allegations.

BJP MLA Sunil Kumar questioned government accountability, asking, “If the government itself is running a honey trap factory, who will stop them?” He expressed solidarity with Rajanna and urged a detailed discussion.

Sources confirmed that the targeted minister met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday, verbally reporting the honey trap attempt. The minister reportedly linked the targeting to his vocal stance within the government.

With a written complaint pending from Rajanna, the Home Minister is expected to initiate a high-level probe. The Assembly awaits further clarity as the controversy continues to unfold, potentially reshaping Karnataka’s political narrative.
