‘Attempt To Replicate Maharashtra Model To Steal Bihar Polls’: Rahul Gandhi Slams BJP, EC

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the BJP and the Election Commission, alleging a conspiracy to “steal the Bihar elections” by replicating the “Maharashtra model” of voter list manipulation.
Addressing a large gathering in Patna during a ‘Bihar Bandh’ called by the opposition Mahagathbandhan, Gandhi warned that the future of the state’s youth was at stake. The state-wide shutdown was organized to protest alleged irregularities in the ongoing voter list revision process ahead of the crucial assembly polls.
“I want to tell the people of Bihar that just like the Maharashtra elections were stolen, now an attempt is being made to steal the Bihar elections. The Maharashtra model is now being implemented in Bihar,” Rahul Gandhi declared, with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav by his side.
He claimed that during the recent Maharashtra assembly polls, 1 crore new voters were added, with most votes going to the BJP, while the names of the poor were simultaneously removed from the rolls. “When we asked for the video of the polling booth and the voter list, we did not get it to date,” he alleged.
Taking direct aim at the constitutional body, Gandhi accused the Election Commission of bias. “The Election Commissioner is talking like the BJP and RSS. He has forgotten that his job is to protect the Constitution,” he said.
The Congress leader warned that the alleged manipulation was not just about votes but about the future of the state’s youth. “Today, not just your votes, but your future is also being stolen. The youth of Bihar should not let their future be stolen,” he urged the crowd.
The Mahagathbandhan, which includes the RJD, Congress, and Left parties, has been raising concerns about the voter revision process, alleging that the names of its supporters are being systematically deleted from the electoral rolls while those of BJP supporters are being added.
