Bengaluru Woman Spikes Husband’s Food with Sleeping Pills, Kills Him with Mother’s Help Over Affairs

A Bengaluru woman and her mother have been arrested for allegedly murdering 37-year-old real-estate businessman Loknath Singh by spiking his food with sleeping pills and slitting his throat, police said. The killing, motivated by Singh’s extramarital affairs and illegal business dealings, came to light after his body was found in an abandoned car. The investigation is ongoing.
The incident was uncovered on Saturday when Loknath Singh’s body was found in an abandoned car in Chikkabanavara, a deserted area in Bengaluru. “We had received a distress call on 112 at 5:30 pm on Saturday, informing us about the body,” said North Bangalore Deputy Commissioner of Police Saidul Adavath, as quoted by NDTV. The police arrested Singh’s wife and mother-in-law for the crime.
Police revealed that Singh’s wife and mother-in-law planned the murder after discovering his multiple extramarital affairs and illegal business activities. The couple’s relationship had deteriorated, marked by frequent arguments and threats of divorce. Singh allegedly threatened his in-laws, prompting them to devise the plan to kill him, according to the preliminary investigation.

The accused reportedly spiked Singh’s food with sleeping pills to make him drowsy, then drove him to a secluded area where they slit his throat with a knife before fleeing. Singh had been under investigation by the Bengaluru Central Crime Branch for a fraud case, adding to the tensions in his personal life, police stated.
Singh had married the woman in December after a two-year relationship, registering their marriage in Kunigal despite family opposition due to their age gap. Neither family was aware of the marriage until two weeks ago. Singh left his wife at her parents’ house shortly after the wedding, further straining their relationship, police noted.
The investigation continues as police delve deeper into Singh’s business dealings and the circumstances leading to the murder. The accused mother-daughter duo is in custody, and further details are expected as the probe progresses, with potential revelations about Singh’s fraud case also under scrutiny.
