Caught on CCTV: Man Kicks, Drags Thane Receptionist by Hair for Asking Him to Wait
A 26-year-old receptionist at a private clinic in Maharashtra’s Thane was brutally assaulted by a man after she denied him entry into a doctor’s cabin without an appointment. The incident, which occurred on Monday at Shri Bal Chikitsalaya in the Manpada area, was captured on CCTV and has sparked outrage locally.
The accused, identified as Gokul Jha, allegedly arrived at the clinic in an intoxicated state and tried to enter the doctor’s cabin while the doctor was in a meeting with a representative. The receptionist, Sonali, stopped him as per the doctor’s instructions. In response, Jha allegedly kicked her and dragged her by her hair across the reception area, using obscene language and causing panic among patients and their families.
Staff members and relatives of other patients intervened to rescue Sonali during the assault. The incident was immediately reported to the Manpada Police Station, and an FIR has been registered against Jha under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita for assault, using obscene language, and outraging the modesty of a woman.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Suhas Hemade confirmed that a case has been filed based on the victim’s statement, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the accused, who is currently absconding. “We are searching for the accused, and further details will emerge after his arrest,” Hemade said.
Following the incident, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) members staged a protest outside the Manpada Police Station, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused and increased safety for women working in clinics and hospitals.
The CCTV footage of the assault has circulated widely on social media, drawing public anger and calls for swift justice. Several users have highlighted the need for enhanced security measures at medical facilities to protect staff from such violent incidents.
