CBSE Announces Special Exam for Students Celebrating Holi on March 15

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced a special exam option for students unable to attend board exams on March 15 due to extended Holi celebrations. This applies to regions where festivities spill over from March 14 into the following day.

While Holi is primarily celebrated on March 14 across India, some areas observe it on March 15 or extend festivities. CBSE has scheduled Class 12 Hindi Core and Elective exams on March 15, prompting the board to offer flexibility. Students in affected regions can opt for a special exam date instead of the original schedule.

The board issued a statement clarifying the provision. “While examination would be held on 15.03.2025, those students who find it difficult to appear on that day may decide not to appear,” it said. Such students will be accommodated alongside those missing exams for sports events, per CBSE policy.

The Class 12 board exams, including Hindi Core (302) and Hindi Elective (002), run until April 2. Meanwhile, Class 10 exams are set to conclude by March 18, with no reported conflicts on March 15. The special exam aims to ensure no student is penalized for cultural observances.

CBSE has yet to release detailed guidelines on how students can apply for the alternative exam date. The board promised to share further instructions soon, ensuring a smooth process for affected candidates. Students and schools are advised to stay updated via official announcements.

With the Class 12 Hindi exams approaching, CBSE is expected to clarify the special exam logistics in the coming days. Schools and students in Holi-celebrating regions will need to confirm eligibility and prepare accordingly. Further updates are anticipated as the board finalizes arrangements.
