In a spine-chilling incident in Hyderabad, Telangana, an ex-serviceman, identified as Gurumurthy, has allegedly committed a gruesome crime by murdering his wife, Puttavenkata Madhavi, 35, chopping her body, boiling the parts in a pressure cooker, and then disposing of the remains in a lake in the Jillelaguda area. This horrifying event came to light after Madhavi was reported missing, leading to Gurumurthy’s arrest by the Meerpet police.

The couple, who had lived in Jillelaguda for five years with their two children, had a history of arguments, with the latest one occurring on January 16 over minor disputes. Following this, Madhavi left home without informing anyone and didn’t return, prompting her mother, Uppala Subbamma, to file a missing complaint on January 18.

Upon interrogation, Gurumurthy confessed to the crime, explaining that he was provoked when Madhavi insisted on visiting her native place in Nandyal. He allegedly killed her, dismembered her body, boiled the parts to reduce them to powder, and then discarded them in the lake. However, the police are still in the process of verifying these claims as the body remains unfound.

Meerpet Inspector Nagaraju shared that the couple, originally from Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh, had been married for over a decade. Gurumurthy, after retiring from the army, was working as a security guard in Kanchanbagh. The police are rigorously investigating this shocking case to gather more evidence and understand the full extent of the crime. This incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the dark underbelly of domestic disputes.
