On the sacred morning of Maghi Purnima, the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj witnessed an immense gathering of devotees, with lakhs taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam. This event, held on February 12, 2025, marks the fourth major bathing festival of this year’s Kumbh, known for its spiritual significance.

Maghi Purnima is not just another day at the Kumbh; it concludes the month-long Kalpvas, where around 10 lakh pilgrims have been living an austere life at the Mela. The day is believed to cleanse sins and bring spiritual enlightenment, drawing millions to the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers.

Following a tragic stampede during the Mauni Amavasya bath last month, authorities have left no stone unturned to ensure safety. The area was designated as a no-vehicle zone, with strict traffic controls in place. Kumbh SSP Rajesh Dwivedi detailed how the police force, working in 12-hour shifts, managed the crowd effectively, ensuring the movement was smooth at all pressure points.

The local administration has arranged for 1,200 additional shuttle buses to manage the influx and outflow of devotees, available every 10 minutes. Designated parking areas were set up, and real-time traffic data from toll plazas was utilized to better manage vehicle flow. These measures were in place to avoid any repeat of previous mishaps and to facilitate a safe and efficient pilgrimage experience.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, actively monitoring the situation from early morning, extended his warm wishes to all participants. He emphasized the spiritual significance of the day, hoping that the blessings of the holy rivers would bring happiness and prosperity to all.

With only 14 days left until the Maha Kumbh concludes on February 26 with the Maha Shivratri Amrit Snan, the event has already seen over 45 crore attendees. This staggering number underscores the scale and the spiritual pull of the Maha Kumbh Mela, one of the largest peaceful gatherings on Earth.
