Maha Doctor Suicide: Cousin Alleges She Was Forced To Forge Reports, Complained To Cops
New, explosive allegations have emerged in the tragic suicide of a woman doctor in Maharashtra, with her cousin claiming she was under immense pressure from police and political figures to create false post-mortem reports. The cousin asserted that the victim had even lodged a formal complaint with senior police officials about the harassment, but her pleas for help went unanswered, leaving her without support. The doctor was found hanging in a hotel room in Satara on Thursday night, having written a suicide note on her palm accusing two police officers of rape and harassment.
“Last year, she was facing a lot of police and political pressure. She was being pressured to make false post-mortem reports. She had written a letter to the DCP to complain, but they didn’t do anything,” the cousin told news agency ANI, detailing the extent of the coercion she allegedly faced. He added that she was pushed to “issue a fit and fine report” for patients not even admitted to the hospital. The suicide note specifically named Sub-Inspector Gopal Badane, accusing him of rape and repeated sexual harassment, and another officer, Prashant Bankar, of mental harassment over several months.
Following the discovery, authorities filed charges of rape and abetment to suicide against both officers. The police have confirmed they are investigating all allegations mentioned in the note written on the victim’s palm. The case has drawn a swift response from the Maharashtra Women’s Commission. “We have taken cognisance of the matter and ordered Satara Police to take strict action against the accused.
Teams have been deployed to hunt the accused,” said chief Rupali Chakankar. Officials are now examining whether the improper pressure to alter medical records was a contributing factor in her death, as her family insists their calls for help were ignored.
