Man Arrested For Shouting Abusive Slogans Against PM Modi At Opposition's Bihar Rally

A man has been arrested in Bihar’s Darbhanga district for allegedly shouting abusive slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during a recent rally for the opposition’s ‘Voter Adhikaar Yatra’. The arrest on Thursday night came after a video of the incident went viral, sparking a massive political controversy and drawing sharp condemnation from across the political spectrum.

The accused, identified as Rizwi alias Raja from Bhapura village, was seen in the video hurling abuses from a stage that featured posters of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. The rally was part of the opposition’s ongoing yatra, a campaign led by Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav ahead of the state assembly polls later this year.

The video quickly ignited a political firestorm. The BJP filed a formal complaint with the police in Patna, demanding an apology from Rahul Gandhi for the language used at his event. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also weighed in, condemning the incident in strong terms.

“During the Voter Adhikaar Yatra, the kind of abusive language used from the Congress and RJD stage against Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and his late mother is extremely inappropriate, and I condemn it,” Kumar posted on X.

Following the backlash, Darbhanga Police confirmed the arrest and stated that an FIR has been registered in the matter. The accused has been sent to judicial custody. The incident has now become a major flashpoint in the already heated political climate of Bihar as parties gear up for the upcoming elections.
