Man Kisses Rahul Gandhi on Bike During Bihar Rally, Gets Slapped by Security
A man breached the security cordon and kissed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on the shoulder during the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ bike rally in Bihar on Sunday. The incident occurred on the Purnea-Araria route while Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, was riding a motorcycle with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.
A video of the security lapse shows a man suddenly breaking through the perimeter, hugging Rahul Gandhi from the side, and planting a kiss on his left shoulder. Security personnel reacted swiftly, pulling the man away. He was then seen being slapped by a guard as he appeared to try and approach the Congress leader again. The man was immediately removed from the secure area without causing any further disruption.
The incident took place during the 16-day, 1,300-kilometer ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’, which was launched on August 17 from Sasaram. The yatra aims to raise awareness and protest against alleged irregularities in Bihar’s voter rolls and is set to traverse over 20 districts before concluding with a large public rally in Patna on September 1.
Despite the brief security breach, Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav continued their journey into Araria, interacting with large crowds that had gathered along the streets to greet them. The two leaders are scheduled to address a joint press conference later in the day in Araria, along with other members of the INDIA bloc.
