Meerut Murder Case: Sahil Used Victim Saurabh’s Money for Gambling and Trips with Muskan, Reveals Report

A chilling report in the Meerut murder case has revealed that Sahil Shukla, the lover of Muskan Rastogi, allegedly used her husband Saurabh Rajput’s money to gamble on cricket matches and fund lavish trips. The couple, now in judicial custody, is struggling with drug withdrawal symptoms in jail.

According to a Hindustan Times report citing police sources, Sahil Shukla bet on cricket matches, including IPL games, using funds sent by Saurabh Rajput, a Merchant Navy officer, to Muskan. Saurabh reportedly sent Rs 1 lakh monthly for his wife and daughter’s expenses, which Sahil then used for gambling through bookies under investigation.

The report further disclosed that Sahil’s gambling winnings were used to finance trips to Rishikesh and Dehradun with Muskan. Neighbours described Sahil as having no regular job, relying heavily on betting earnings to sustain his lifestyle, as per the Hindustan Times.

Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla were arrested after Muskan confessed to killing Saurabh and dismembering his body into 15 pieces. Her parents took her to the police station, where she admitted to the crime. The duo sealed the remains in a cement-filled drum, shocking investigators.

Lodged in Chaudhary Charan Singh district jail since March 19, Muskan and Sahil are facing severe drug withdrawal symptoms. “Muskan and Sahil are not able to sleep properly. They are also refusing to eat and drink,” a jail source told PTI, attributing their distress to drug withdrawal rather than remorse.

The accused requested to be housed in the same barrack, but jail authorities denied it, citing regulations. Muskan has also sought a government-appointed lawyer, stating her family is upset and unwilling to support her legal battle, as per PTI.

As the investigation continues, police are probing the bookies linked to Sahil’s betting activities. The court proceedings and the accused’s health in custody remain under scrutiny, with more details expected to emerge in this gruesome case.
