‘No Offer for Nitish’: Tejashwi Yadav Slams Rumours of RJD Outreach Ahead of Bihar Polls

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday dismissed rumours of his party reaching out to Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, sharply rejecting any possibility of an alliance with the JD(U) chief. The statement comes amid rising political tensions as the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections approach. Yadav’s response highlights the deepening rift between the former allies.

Addressing reporters, the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly made it clear that no talks were underway with Kumar. “Who gives you these ideas? Why will we welcome him?” he asked. He stressed that only he and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav could authorise such offers, adding, “No offer will be made.”

The remarks follow a heated exchange in the Bihar Assembly where Nitish Kumar claimed he made Lalu Yadav chief minister. “Even the people of Lalu’s caste refused to make him CM, but I supported him,” Kumar had said. Tejashwi hit back, asserting RJD’s role in Kumar’s rise.

“I made him CM twice and saved his party,” Tejashwi retorted during the assembly session. He reminded Kumar that Lalu had been elected as an MLA twice and an MP once before Kumar’s tenure. “Forget about Lalu Yadav, Lalu Ji has made many Prime Ministers,” he added.

Once partners in the Mahagathbandhan coalition, RJD and JD(U) have turned bitter rivals. Kumar’s exit from the alliance in January 2024 to rejoin the BJP-led NDA has fuelled mutual attacks. Both sides are now locked in a battle for the 243-seat Bihar legislature.

The NDA, comprising JD(U) and BJP, faces a strong challenge from RJD and its allies in the upcoming polls. Political circles buzz with speculation about alliances, but Yadav’s statement firmly shuts down any talk of reconciliation with Kumar.

With the Bihar Assembly elections slated for late 2025, campaigning is expected to heat up. Analysts predict a fierce contest as both NDA and RJD-led coalitions vie for power. Further statements from party leaders may clarify their strategies in the coming weeks.
