Operation Sindoor: Over 80 Terrorists Killed as India Strikes JeM, LeT Camps in Pakistan, PoK

In a swift retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack, Indian armed forces conducted precision strikes across Pakistan and PoK, killing over 80 terrorists in “Operation Sindoor”.

In a coordinated military operation named “Operation Sindoor”, Indian armed forces struck nine terror camps linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) early Wednesday. The strikes come in the wake of the April 22 Pahalgam attack that left 26 civilians dead.

Top security sources confirmed that more than 80 terrorists were neutralised during the strikes, which involved air raids by Rafale fighter jets armed with SCALP cruise missiles and HAMMER precision-guided munitions.

Sources told India Today TV that the targets included high-value facilities such as the Lashkar headquarters in Mudrike and JeM’s base in Bahawalpur, including hideouts associated with JeM chief Masood Azhar.

“These strikes were based on real-time intelligence and were executed with surgical precision, ensuring zero collateral damage,” a senior defence official told The Headliner.

Visuals circulating on social media from PoK showed a large explosion and debris in the aftermath of the attack, with eyewitnesses describing a blackout and chaos in the affected areas.

Following the strikes, the Pakistani military reportedly resorted to heavy firing across the Line of Control (LoC), resulting in the death of three civilians in border villages. The Indian Army has stated it is on high alert and prepared for any escalation.

“The enemy has responded with indiscriminate shelling, which only underlines the impact of our targeted operation,” said an Indian Army spokesperson.

Sources said the mission was a tri-service effort involving the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. No Indian aircraft were lost during the operation, which featured extended-range deep-strike sorties.

“Specialised ammunition was used, and airspace was carefully managed to avoid civilian air traffic,” a geo-intelligence expert noted.

The April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, was one of the deadliest in recent years, claiming 26 lives. India had vowed a strong response, with PM Modi stating that “those who spill innocent blood will not be spared”.

The attack intensified diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan, leading to a suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and a downgrade in diplomatic and trade ties.

With tensions rising, defence experts warn of potential escalations along the LoC. However, Indian officials maintain that the strikes were defensive in nature and aimed purely at terror infrastructure.

“The message is clear: India will act decisively against terror, wherever it emanates from,” said a former Indian Air Force commander.
