‘I’m Sorry…’ PM Modi’s to Devotees As Maha Kumbh Mela Concludes
The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, held in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, wrapped up on Wednesday, February 26, marking the end of a 45-day spiritual journey. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called it a “Maha Yagya of unity” and apologized to devotees for any difficulties faced during the festival. “I am sorry if anyone faced inconvenience,” he said in a heartfelt message on X, reflecting on the event’s success.
The grand festival, which began on January 13, saw over 66.21 crore people take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam—the meeting point of the Ganga, Yamuna, and mythical Saraswati rivers. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared this impressive figure, highlighting the massive turnout. People from all walks of life, including politicians, athletes, and Bollywood stars, joined the sacred bath, making it a truly diverse gathering.
PM Modi praised the event as a symbol of national awakening. “For 45 days, the faith of 140 crore Indians united at Maha Kumbh. It broke the chains of centuries of slavery, breathing new life into our consciousness,” he said. He also shared a video of a stunning fireworks and laser show over the Sangam, lighting up the sky as the festival concluded on Maha Shivratri.
This year’s Maha Kumbh was the world’s largest gathering, spread across 40 hectares in a temporary setup called Mahakumbh Nagar—UP’s 76th district. To ensure safety, authorities used advanced technology like anti-drone systems and AI-powered cameras. The area buzzed with activity round-the-clock, hosting millions of pilgrims from India and abroad.
The final day was a spectacle, with devotees flocking to the Sangam for the last holy dip. The fireworks display, widely shared online, added a festive touch to the closing. Despite challenges like traffic jams and tragic accidents reported during the event, the focus remained on unity and spirituality.
