Preparations at Ramlila Maidan Are Underway Ahead Of Delhi's New CM Oath Ceremony

The historic Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi is bustling with activity as preparations for the oath-taking ceremony of the new Delhi Chief Minister are in full swing. With the BJP securing a significant victory in the recent Delhi Assembly elections, winning 48 out of 70 seats, the stage is set for a major political event on February 20.

The BJP is scheduled to hold its Legislature Party meeting on February 19 at 7 PM to elect their leader, who will subsequently be the Chief Ministerial candidate. Post-meeting, party representatives will visit the Governor at Raj Niwas to stake their claim to form the government. This process has kept political enthusiasts and the public on edge as the BJP has not yet officially announced their CM pick, keeping the suspense alive.

Speculation is rife on social media and within political circles about who might take the helm. Names like Parvesh Verma, who notably defeated AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal, along with Rekha Gupta, Ashish Sood, and Kapil Mishra, have been floated as potential candidates. However, given BJP’s history of making unexpected choices in other states, any name could emerge as the surprise pick for Delhi’s top job.

The election results, declared on February 8, marked a dramatic shift in Delhi’s political landscape. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), previously dominant with 62 seats, was reduced to just 22, while Congress failed to win a single seat, continuing their streak of electoral disappointments in the capital.

With the ceremony just days away, all eyes are on Ramlila Maidan and the BJP’s final decision, which will shape the governance of India’s capital for the coming years.
